Any report on life of the Spirits? I know you liked the handling. Has anyone else put many miles on? Thanks, my commader II is about gone.
ride safe

The first i can't really say for sure because i did a couple thousand miles of freeway trips and because my typical riding is usually all streets and twisties with very little freeway i couldn't really make a fair comparison. The due to my being retired and poor i bought the older model after that and was sorry i did because that really showed me how much better the spirit is. I can't really comment on the second one since i am only a couple thousand miles in, but it looks brand new still and the first one matched the best mileage i have gotten from and tire even tho as i said i'm not sure that would be a fair comparison due to that freeway mileage.
But heres the thing....the spirit rear is a unbelievable tire. Every time out when i hit the mountain roads i marvel on the bikes handling. Corners feel like i am on rails as it just locks in on the turns, feels dead confident and is far and away the biggest difference i have ever felt in a rear tire. The front i wasn't crazy about. It didn't last and didn't seem to handle as well as my usual avon cobra. (now called the cobra chrome) I am confident the mileage is as good as anything i have used or very close. I don't recall any tire looking as new as mine does with 2000 miles ion it. May even be closer to 3000 at this point.
If u want my recommendation i would say unless you ride like Dave, (sorry Dave:)) i would suggest u don't even consider another model for the rear. I have never experienced this kind of improvement from any tire ever, and i would wager mileage will be as good as anything else or veryt very close. The commander IMO pales in comparison, not even close if you push your bike at all.

Far as i know they just added "chrome" to the name and some little cosmetic design. Same tire far as i can tell and the tire i have used exclusively on the front for years now. They get great mileage and handle great. The spirit rear and chome up front is a great combo. Makes the bike feel like turns are heavily banked even when they aren't. Best to date by a wide margin. Of course as handling goes the more u push the bike the more u will notice it. But still noticeable at any speed. Long as they make these 2 tires i won't use anything else.

I'm not a go-fast guy, mileage is more important to me, but no complaints regarding handling. As good or better handling than the stock Metzeler was, and twice the mileage.

Like i said above, the ST is quite a bit better even tho i thought the storm 3D was good when i tried it, and it is. Just not near as good which says a lot about the spirit. Of course thats all about the ride and handling and while the spirit i believe is better then the 3D there also, not by a lot. In fact of all the tires i have tried none were much different as mileage goes. Most are gone right about 6k and with one exception have only varied from each other on the order of a few hundred miles. But like i said above my current spirit seems to be wearing very slow and looks brand new at over 2k, possible near 3.

We'll see about the mileage. The only tires I have run on this bike are the Metz. and I typically get around 12,000 mi. per set.
